    Gen post

Sometimes I think that humans are born for doing one thing – crib. We are never satisfied. And I am a shining example.

When I have work, which has been the case for the past one and a half months, I crib. In fact, the last month or two have been crazy, but extremely pleasing also. We have immense amount of work and a very very narrow deadline to meet. But then, there is the satisfaction of seeing our group at the top again. Right where it belongs. The entire team (minus me) has been working very very hard and I am so grateful that they are on the project, which makes my work so damn easy. Though I have not complimented them on their faces, I think (hope at least!!) they know that I appreciate their work a lot and that they have been great. Thanks guys, would not have been possible without your help and hard work!

When I don’t have work, like the last couple of days (due to shifting of places), I crib. I was almost bored to death today. Kuch nahi kiya din bhar and I was reminded of how horrible life would be without work. I mean weekends are fun because the week is hectic. So here I am writing a post to describe the extreme state of vettiness I am in, which might drastically change within a couple of days depending on a pending approval from one of the clients.

Anyways, I have also been doing a lot of other things. Watching Heroes, Studio 60,  Southpark, and a lot of movies.

Heroes is a series about normal guys with superpowers and their mission to save the world. However, it is only reccomended if you are a comic book fan. It is extremely well made and very engrossing. I watched close to 12, 40 mins, episodes over a span of two days. And now I need to download newer episodes 🙂 Oh, by the way, Ali Larter is so damn sexy!!!

Studio 60, is a nice comedy series, starring Matt (Matthew Perry) and Jordan (Amanda Peet). Other major characters are Danny (Bradley Whitford) , Harriet (Sarah Paulson) and Simon Stiles (DL Hughley). Now Perry is at his sarcastic best and romance is brewing (once again) between him and Harriet. Meanwhile Jordan is the head of a broadcasting network and is a very nice person and Danny is in love with her. Man, you should check out the scene where he proposes to her (I saw it last night), very chic!!

Southpark is a totally kick ass comedy cartoon series, making fun of the American pop culture. Must watch!!

Coming to movies. I have finally seen Apocalypto – short review, nothing great. I have also seen The Last King of Scotland – awesome. Also, I saw this wierd movie called A Scanner Darkly, nice but wierd, and the rotoscoping is awesome.

All the movies and TV series courtesy Akshat, an awesome bloke in my group.

    Aur batao!!

If you and your friends find each other saying these two words over the phone a frickin’ number of times then I am reasonably sure that both of you are working.

A good friend, who I do not know why I do not speak to that much, called up late last night and as we talked she told me how there was nothing much after office to do and that life had become so bore. I told her in a long discussion (perhaps the longest I have ever talked to her on phone I guess and otherwise) that she should find out something to do. Maybe read, write, travel and most importantly do something that interests her. The punga I think is with her organization where she does not get time for herself or to do things that she likes doing, and she being the hardworking girl she is, slogs off and that frustration builds up.

I know the sign and this feeling over comes to me every couple of months and I have to do something to get over it. I regualrly go visit friends (Tk and Bharathi essentially), make it a point to meet all friends who pass through Delhi, even if it is for half an hour, and every once in a while I make trips outside the city, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Dehradun etc.

What else can one do? Any suggestions??

‘Aur batao’ is one combination of words that I detest hearing from the other end of a telephonic conversation. It is so open-ended and vague that this query becoming boring to the extent of irritation.

Exactly. But then it becomes the only thing you have to say. Talk for some time and then these two words. Again a new thing. Talk about it, and then these two words. Arrgghhh.

      🙂 Anonymity
Actually I can relate to that friend of yours…I guess at times it also happens because of lack of nothing better to do….
On “Aur batao” its a great way to push the ball back in someone’s court…when you dont have enough to talk and dont want to hang up as well….

I think there is always something better to do!! If not find it out…

As for pushing the ball back in someone’s court, that should not happen between friends… I think friends always have something to talk about…

I know you ask with a genuine interest, but at times you get to hear it so many times in a day itself that it gets irritating!!

      No offense meant.

Just got fixated on your “friends always have something to talk about”.. I’ve always considered people my friends when silence around them stops being uncomfortable 😀

    Good times

After a long time I feel free. There is something about friends, music and a good bonfire. Makes you feel so nice and light… I wish the times just last and tomorrow never comes.

By the way, have big weekends coming up… I hope I can see Bharathi and TK on Saturday and next weekend is the office offsite… So hang on life seems like its gonna be fun for next some time 🙂

I wish I could get all I ever wanted.. Be happy.. I mean how hard is it.. Just don’t want things that never were yours..

    Some lines

Was just reading a few blogs and came across a few lines that I liked or had some connection.

Dextrous Doings – Comment by Sunrise:

Haven’t we all been there… the only thing good about life is that there is a new day waiting for you at the end of each terrible one… and that is why, I guess, I have a thing for sunrises…

The intimate ramblings of a lost hearty soul:

I still love him. I am still angry with him but I still love him.

I remember having said the first line, or something very close, to a friend once. And have watched a sunrise whenever I have felt down.

    Its a dog’s life!!

Soumyadip, of “Cutting The Chai“, writes here about his job switch and pastes something he had written when he had last changed jobs. Pretty interesting stuff.

“Some days you are the dog, on others the lamppost. Today I was the lamppost…” Tomorrow too wouldn’t be much different. The lamppost remains, the dogs change.

Where ever may you go, even when you are your own boss – this truth remains. Maybe it is time they invented some kind of diapers for the dogs.

I think that is a patentable idea 😉

Coming back to the point, I think that is true for all aspects of life, and not only job.

Turns out it isn’t a patentable idea 😦

Someone has already patented it. Check out the patent here.
